What is acupuncture?Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment and therapy. Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins – the body’s natural pain-relieving neurohormones – through the insertion of needles into specific anatomical points (acupuncture points) to encourage natural healing. Therapeutic effects include pain relief, increased energy, improved mood, and improved overall body function.

Can children under the age of 18 recieve massage therapy?Yes. With parent/guardian consent a child under the age of 18 may receive massage therapy. The parent/guardian is required to sign the intake form and consent form. It is very important that no matter how old the child is, they also must consent and be comfortable receiving massage. We recommend starting with shorter lengths of time for younger children. One parent is allowed to stay in the room with the child while treatment takes place.

What if I am uncomfortable removing my clothing during acupuncture or massage treatments?Your comfort is a top priority. Our practitioners and therapists are trained to make sure the sheet on the table always drapes you and ensures your privacy. If at any time you feel uncomfortable due to pain, treatment or draping, please let your therapist know. Before and after the treatment, you will be able undress and dress in privacy. You are more than welcome to leave clothes on, we recommend talking with your therapist about what areas can be worked with your clothes on.

I was hurt in a car accident, what should I do?Step 1: You should seek out emergency services depending on the severity of the injury. Report the accident to the police and your car insurance company. Your car insurance company will most likely assign you 2 claim adjusters, 1 for the car and 1 for bodily injuries. Step 2: At this time you might still be waiting to hear back from your insurance but you can start to seek help from a health practitioner to assess your injury. This can only be done by a licenced Chiropractor, Physiotherapist or a Medical Doctor. In our clinic specifically, you will evaluated by our chiropractor. Contact our clinic to inform us you’ve been injured in a car accident, and we will send you an AB-1 form to complete. The AB-1 form is what you fill out to send the insurance company telling them what happened to you and what symptoms you have after the accident An AB-2 form will be filled out by our chiropractor and based on your evaluation they create a treatment plan for you and assign a diagnosis based on your injuries. Step 3: Based on your injuries you are assigned one of four categories of Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD injuries) depending on the severity of your injury. Typically, most motor vehicle accidents fall within WAD 1-3 categories. Other injuries are included as well. For example, lower back, shoulder, or knee injuries. Based on those categories, you’re allowed 10-21 treatments that are billed directly to your car insurance company within protocol. For WAD 1 injuries within protocol, you are allowed 10 treatments combined of chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy and acupuncture. If you’re a WAD 2 injury, you are allowed 21 treatments combined. All treatments most be completed within 90 days of your initial assessment.
